Gourmet Cafe is located in a strip mall off Rt. 46, not the place to expect a truly exceptional dining experience.   I've been going there on special occasions for years and it has never disappointed.   My husband and I shared an appetizer of mussels in a garlicky tomato sauce.  I'm glad we split it because it was quite large.
For the entrée, my husband had charred shrimp over cheese tortellini with a cream sauce, which he enjoyed.   But my entrée,  OMG!  Rigatoni in a tomato sauce with a lot of shrimp, small chunks of crabmeat and little balls of mozzarella cheese, which melted as I ate.  It was fantastic. This hidden gem is magnificent! This was our first time here, we only wish we had discovered it much sooner. The food is delicious, superb, authentic, the best. We loved every single bite of our appetizers, salads, and meals. The service was top of the line. Chef Matt as well as his staff were so welcoming and kind. Can't wait to go back!

This hidden gem is really hidden. Seriously, it's tucked away in a corner. But did I mention it's a hidden gem? Italian food is common place in NJ, but good Italian food is as rare as a diamond. Eating here is like finding a diamond mine. You treasure it.

We went for our Anniversary dinner. It is a small and quaint place. The servers and all other working there are very hospitable. The food was delicious. I stay very close to this cafe but never knew it was so good. I usually am not a fan of Italian cuisine but my my i am impressed. Just hosted an anniversary party for my parents and everything was PERFECT. Food was delicious, the room was a great size and they took care of every detail for us the whole time. I'm Italian.  We were very pleasantly surprised! Everything was great! Pasta and shell fish were flavorful. Great food and service, nicely set tables and a warm quite environment.  BYOB too!
